It is a community of homes in developments carved from rolling farmlands and sprawling estates of an earlier time. In addition, the Village's downtown area assists in keeping a "small town" atmosphere in Grayslake. Located in the center of the community is Gray's Lake, which is the primary recreational asset of the village.
Recreation: The Lake County Fairgrounds, a year-round facility located in Grayslake, is available to all county residents and organizations. Its central location is ideally suited for expositions, concerts, and special programs. Public recreational facilities include over 14 park sites encompassing over 250 acres and a beach. The Center for Economic Development provides specialized training to serve the Lake County business community.
Housing: The lake, in the heart of Grayslake, is ringed by many attractive homes, some dating back to the founding of the Village in the mid 1800's. The growing number of small manufacturing firms are utilizing the abundance of industrial sites, supporting the Village tax base.
